Okay, I chose this pic because, when I started working with a personal trainer and building some lean muscle, I FINALLY stopped "dieting." Eat less, lose weight. End up with the metabolism of a gnat (they're small, so I'll assume they don't have very high metabolisms). Any eating plan (aka "diet) that cuts out certain foods or severely limits calorie type (protein, fat and/or carbohydrates) will get you results ~ for awhile. Sooner or later you're going to want to eat a piece of bread again, and the weight comes right back on. Always consider common sense when choosing a nutrition plan. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins ~ all great for you AND your metabolism. Check out MyFoodDiary.com; it's a favorite app of mine and one I (strongly) suggest to my clients. The app calculates the range of calories you need each day, based on several factors including gender, activity, weight loss goals, etc. Undereating simply slows your metabolism, stalling weight~loss efforts. Lean muscle tissue burns calories even while you're sleeping...I think I need a nap!
